In October of 2001, an assembly of five Guatemalans and five North Americans was formed, a lawyer contacted, a "starter" site located, purchases of household appliances and furniture made, paperwork finalized with the government, and personnel placed.
The orphanage, Shadow of His Wings, was the first project of James Project of Latin America and currently is home to 61 girls and teenagers.
Liberty Christian School is the second ministry under JPLA and provides Christ-centered education to the girls in Shadow of His Wings, children of house parents, and children of the teaching staff.
